Urban NW Homes Recognized as Home Innovation 2023 NGBS Green Partner of Excellence

Local Builder Applauded for Excellence in Advancing High-Performance Mainstream Home Building

Vancouver, WA, May 20, 2024 – Urban NW Homes is proud to announce that it has been named a Home Innovation NGBS Green Partner of Excellence for 2023. As a leader in the construction of high-quality sustainable homes, Urban NW Homes continues to push the boundaries of innovation and efficiency in the building industry.

NGBS Green, based on the ICC-700 National Green Building Standard™ (NGBS), has recognized Urban NW Homes for its outstanding contribution to green home building. With more than 500,000 NGBS Green Certified homes, the program celebrates the efforts of builders who are dedicated to fostering sustainable, high-performance housing.

Urban NW Homes, under the leadership of Jerud Martin, has distinguished itself among an elite group of green certification participants, showcasing a steadfast commitment to enhancing customer value, comfort, durability, and efficiency through its certified homes. This recognition marks yet another milestone for Urban NW Homes, which also recently received a silver award at the Best in American Living Awards (BALA) in the healthy homes category.

Jerud Martin, owner of Urban NW Homes and a former educator turned pioneering builder, stated, “Receiving the NGBS Green Partner of Excellence award is not just a recognition of our dedication to green building. It is a testament to our commitment to create homes that enhance the health and well-being of our families. As we continue to innovate, our focus remains on building not just houses, but homes that are sanctuaries of wellness.”

To achieve NGBS Green Certification, Urban NW Homes has consistently met stringent criteria across six categories: Lot & Site Development, Resource Efficiency, Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Homeowner Education. Each home must adhere to mandatory practices in these areas, with Urban NW Homes often exceeding these requirements through additional sustainable practices.

Michelle Foster, Home Innovation’s Vice President of Sustainability, commented on the evolving landscape, “NGBS Green Certification has long been a mark of distinction for builders. We are excited to see a shift in the industry towards a broader definition of success, encompassing environmental, social, and management factors. Builders like Urban NW Homes are at the forefront of this movement, demonstrating that it is possible to be sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and profitable.”

Urban NW Homes invites the community and potential homeowners to explore how living in an NGBS Green Certified home can not only reduce environmental impact but also improve personal well-being. For more information about Urban NW Homes and their projects, please visit www.urbannw.com
