Green Home Street Fair

Aug 11 2016

There’s a new show on the block this summer
and it’s called the ProBuild
Green Home Street Fair. Taking place August 19-21, this 3-day free
show aims to give Clark County locals an up-close look at homes built to the
National Green Building Standard (NGBS) in a festive setting. NGBS homes offer
the latest intelligent and sustainable residential design possibilities
available today.

Produced by the Green Building Council of the Building Industry Association of Clark
County (BIA), the event will feature three show homes each highlighting a
different aspect of the green building story. Urban NW Homes’ design highlights
creative use of reclaimed materials; Marnella Homes’ entry is focused on energy
efficiency; the Green Building Council “see-through” house offers a
behind-the-walls look at the technology that goes into NGBS-certified homes.
Four additional models will be open for show-goers to tour in the Urban Oaks
neighborhood.

The ProBuild Green Home Street Fair is part
home tour and part block party. Musicians will play all day on the Global
Security Entertainment Stage, street performers like Curtis Carlyle will
delight attendees and the neighborhood’s central park provides plenty of space
for little ones to run. Get to the show early each day for free ice cream from
Umpqua Bank!

Unique, local food carts and brews will add
great flavor to every visit. Rolling Pin Eatery will serve up creative comfort
food and Heathen Brewing ales are featured in the Beer Garden sponsored by
Cascade Flooring America. Vendors will be on hand for shopping and green
product information.

“Come for the home tour, stay for the
party!” invites Aaron Helmes of Urban NW Homes, chair of the Green Building Council
and builder of one of the show homes. “We want people to experience the latest
in home building technology in an inviting and entertaining way. NGBS homes are
comfortable, healthy and durable. Attendees will really get a good
understanding of the technology behind the walls with our see-through home
feature. And, the event is just going to be a fun place to hang out on a summer
day!”
