Celebrate Mother’s Day at Home!

Celebrating Mother's Day

Consider this your not-so-subtle reminder that Mother’s Day is coming up in a couple of weeks. Maybe you already know what you’ll be doing, but if you’re still trying to figure out how you’ll fête the moms in your life we can help! We have some ideas and tips that will make this Mother’s Day a special celebration.

  1. Give Mom a REAL Day Off
Giving mom a real day off will require everyone in the family to pitch in and help. Encourage everyone to pick up the slack around the house to make sure mom doesn’t have to lift a finger. Making brunch or dinner? Keep it simple so the kitchen isn’t messy. If the kids are younger, let dad take the lead in running the house and if your kids are older, give them tasks to take care of to help.
  2. Pamper Mom
In the days leading up to Mother’s Day, find out how mom would like to relax. Perhaps she wants to sleep in, some time alone for a relaxing bath or a phone call in peace, some uninterrupted time to read or work on a hobby, or even quality family time without any fights or devices.
  3. Make Brunch or Dinner at Home
Instead of schlepping the family out to a busy restaurant, why not host a special meal at home? Keep the meal simple by trying a make-ahead breakfast dish or picking up pastries and treats from the grocery store of bakery. If lunch or dinner is more your family’s speed, the simple approach works as well! Focus on a main dish you can easily prepare at home and pick up any side dishes at the store, including dessert!
  4. Explore Outside
If the weather is nice, take a walk around the neighborhood or head out to a favorite park, lake or recreation area for a hike, bike ride or picnic. Whatever activity you chose to participate in, doing it together outside is a great way for the entire family to enjoy a refreshing day.
  5. Gather Family and Friends
Make Mother’s Day a unique celebration by inviting family members and friends for a joint celebration!

Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to show the mothers in our lives how much we love and appreciate them. However you decide to celebrate we hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
